Paintball gun packages or starter kits will give you almost all, if not all, the things needed to play paintball. The player kits, as they are sometimes called, include a mask, a hopper, an air tank, and occasionally, accessories for the maintenance and cleaning of your gun. These accessories include such items as squeegees, paintball gun oil and o-rings.
Purchasing a paintball gun package has two great advantages, and these are convenience and price. Buying a packaged gun means you can get almost everything you need at one time. You will not need to go to different stores to separately purchase different items. You can also save more money when you decide to purchase a paintball gun package. These packages will generally require you to shell out only a limited amount of cash as compared to buying the paintball equipment separately.
Paintball marker packages appear to be great deals for beginners and experienced players alike; however, not all paintball gun packages will give you the best value for your money. Here are a few things for you to consider when you buy a paintball gun package to make sure the package is best for you.
The paintball marker.
Does the paintball package you are considering have the type of gun you want? Accessory kits for different guns are widely available at some stores; on the other hand, a number of stores will have a rather limited selection, offering only certain packages for a particular brand name. If you find it hard to decide on one specific gun, then just go ahead and purchase a gun that comes with the package. However, do not buy a paintball gun for the sole reason that the gun comes with a kit. This should hold true especially if you would prefer to own a different kind of marker than the one offered with the package.
The mask.
Most gun packages come with a protective mask. Take a close look at the mask that comes with the package you are considering to purchase. Is it made of good quality? Remember, the mask is one of, if not the most important piece of equipment you will need for paintball. Make sure that the mask is durable, comfortable and does not fog up easily. Getting a “good price” for a mask is not worth it if you will not get to use the mask you’re paying that amount for.
The hopper.
Most of the hoppers that come with a paintball marker package are of the gravity-fed type. This type of hopper works well as long as your marker shoots at a speed of approximately 11 bps or less. However, if your gun has a faster speed, you will have to use an electro hopper. A gravity-fed hopper will only decrease your gun’s performance if you insist on using it.
The air tank.
A paintball gun package will come with an air tank and the majority of these tanks, if not all, are 9 ounce CO2 tanks. Ask yourself if this is the kind of air tank you want. If you want to use a nitro/HPA tank or perhaps a bigger CO2 tank, then the air tank that comes with the gun package may end up being worthless to you.
If the paintball marker package you are considering for purchase is produced by a manufacturer for a specific brand and does not have the equipment that you want, then it might be best if you just purchase all the equipment separately. However, if the package you are considering was put together at a paintball store, you can try to upgrade the equipment that is included in the package. It is always better to shell out a bit more cash for the things that you need and want, rather than to pay for things you have no use for.
